I lead on the Power2 Advance Trafford mentoring programme, designed for care experienced young people. My role is to support the transition into adulthood by empowering and embedding skills for independence.

Mark has been supporting the youth sector since 2014, from volunteering to training as a youth worker. The skills he has learnt and gained on the way have enabled him to build positive relationships with people he works with. During his studies, Mark focused on living independently, helping others with budgeting, and cooking and also detached youth work. This is where my skills come into play supporting the Power2 Advance programme in Trafford.

Mark also supports Tameside Council's Youth Service part time, where he creates a safe space for LGBTQ+ young people and for a young women’s group.

Family and friends mean a lot to Mark, and he spends most his time out of work making sure their wellbeing is in check. He likes to go on walks or book new places to travel. He and his friends have recently started a badminton group to help with exercise and confidence since the pandemic.

"Power2 is a fantastic organisation. Everyone in the team is dedicated and committed to providing the best support for young people and they have their interests at the forefront with all they do. I am proud to have the opportunity to support such a great charity."
