We’re still smiling from all the fun that was had last weekend on the Power2 float which made its way through Manchester city centre on Saturday for Manchester Pride!

Our hugely colourful, 47 foot float was decorated by many of the young people we work with on our programmes in the Manchester area along with LGBT Out Loud who we partnered with for the event. After weeks of work making the decorations, the end result was truly fabulous. Mayor for Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, even stopped to compliment us on our handiwork during the parade!

It was fantastic to be part of the parade and celebrations of diversity. We’ve seen the impact of things like homophobic bullying and anxiety about sexuality in young people so it was great to see so many young people helping with and taking part in Pride.

Special thanks go to Young Manchester, BCD Logistics, Williams Quality Food, Fruits and Roots, No.77 Café, Abakhan Fabrics, Bargain Textiles Jillian Holden, and our local Ashton-under-Lyne brances of Ikea, McDonalds, Iceland, Subway and Asda for supporting our float. Not to mention all the young people and Power2 team members who put so much time and effort into decorating it!
