Power2 Progress

Young people become role models and mentor primary school students through their transition to secondary school.

About Power2 Progress

For some students, the transition from primary to secondary school can be an exciting time but for others, it can be very overwhelming. Power2 Progress helps make this transition a bit easier! Over 13 weeks, Year 8 students mentor Year 6 students who may find the change difficult, helping them to feel more confident and ready for the new move to secondary school.

Through this experience, the mentors develop valuable leadership, confidence and communication skills as they guide their mentee through a key moment in their lives.

Successful completion of the programme means young people achieve a nationally recognised NCFE Level 1 qualification in Developing Effective Thinking Skills.

Endorsements

Thank you Power2 for nurturing our students into fine young mentors. We have noticed such a huge difference in the [Year 8] students Power2 worked with. Their confidence and self-esteem have grown massively. We couldn't be prouder of the way they have supported the soon-to-be Year 7s. They are all a success in their own rights but one of our students who was ever so shy and would barely utter two words when spoken to, now has his head up - giving eye contact and not only holds a conversation with staff but also participates in class and speaks out when given a task.
