We are a leading youth development charity, and we believe there is no greater cost to society than unfulfilled potential. Our programmes develop crucial life skills, improve confidence and boost self-esteem. We target children and young people at key transition points so they can maximise their learning experiences. We are an evidence-based organisation with measured positive impact and outcomes.

It’s an exciting time to join the Operations team at Power2. Reporting to the London Operations Manager, you will join a team of 15+ expert project and programme delivery staff based in London and Manchester.

We have recently partnered with the Walcot Foundation to deliver support to their bursary recipients all of whom are from or based in Lambeth. Your role will be to lead on the development and delivery of this new programme that will support young people and adults (65% under age 25) to make the most of their individual Walcot Foundation grant to embark on further and higher education and ultimately move into the world of work.

A core part of the role will be developing strong relationships and partnerships with local and other relevant organisations. This would include higher and further education institutions that Walcot grant recipients are attending, so we can support participants in accessing the opportunities available in their locality, as well as external partners who can provide relevant workshops.

You will work with, be supported by and draw from the experience of numerous stakeholders at Power2 as you develop the programme. It will be important to align this project with other Power2 delivery activity (particularly the Young Leaders programme and other locally funded projects) to ensure you maximise the use of available opportunities to have a positive impact on the lives of as many people as possible.

Other important elements (could) include:

  • Development of a Walcot Foundation Alumni mentoring scheme including training for mentors
  • Group mentoring programme with corporates for relevant participants

  • Helping young people access all the support available to them through their college, university or other relevant institution
  • Liaising with and promoting other Walcot Foundation funded support services
  • Supporting students to be active in identifying internship and volunteering opportunities
  • Working with the Power2 wider team to access opportunities through our Young Leaders network

  • Exploration of the development of an e-portal for Information, Advice and Guidance
  • Webinars (live, web-based video conference) of key events to be made available to those based in different locations
  • Exploration of the best way to manage an alumni network and development of that network

This role is likely to include some flexible working and will include occasional evenings and weekends. Based at Power2 Head Office in London Bridge, the post holder may also work from Lambeth based hubs and need to travel throughout the City and nationally on occasion.

We are interested to hear from candidates from a youth work or education background who are looking to take the next step up or applicants who have experience and a passion for supporting people in meeting their potential.
