Our programmes Power2 Progress This programme builds on the overarching Power2 principle that through helping others, young people experience life-changing benefits in school and in their personal lives. Power2 Progress applies our existing model of peer mentoring, mutual benefit and social action to supporting Year 6 students (mentees) and Year 8 students (mentors) who may be facing additional challenges. It is designed to help Year 6 students make positive transitions into secondary school life. At the same time, Year 8 students benefit from the experience of mentoring and inspiring a younger pupil and achieve an accredited NCFE Level 1 Award in Developing Effective Thinking Skills at the end of the 13-week programme. With the support of the Co-op Foundation and the #iwill Fund we recently launched the first pilot of this programme in Stockport, Greater Manchester. The #iwill Fund is made possible thanks to £50 million joint investment from The National Lottery Community Fund and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to support young people to access high quality social action opportunities. Co-op Foundation is acting as a match funder and awarding grants on behalf of the #iwill Fund. Outcomes Of the young people we've supported: 94% 86% 71% of Year 8s increased their self-confidence. of Year 8s reported improved communications skills. of Year 6s reported feeling more ready for secondary school. "Thank you Power2 for nurturing our students into the fine young mentors they have become. We have noticed such a huge difference in the [year 8] students Power2 worked with. Their confidence and self-esteem has grown massively. We couldn't be prouder of the way they have supported the soon-to-be year 7's. They are all a success in their own rights but one of our students who was ever so shy and would barely utter 2 words when spoken to, now has his head up - giving eye contact and not only holds a conversation with staff but he also participates in class and speaks out when given a task." Teacher, Lostock High School, Trafford We'd love to hear from you if you're interested in running or supporting a Power2 Progress programme. REGISTER YOUR INTEREST DONATE Manage Cookie Preferences
