Teens and Toddlers shaped me into who I am today. Even though I was young when I did the programme, it had a huge impact on my life. I’m so grateful.
“I had a tough time at school. I was a bit rebellious, lacked motivation to learn and didn’t have the best attendance.”
“I also struggled a lot with social anxiety and being around loads of people at school was very overwhelming.”
“I was invited on Teens and Toddlers to help me gain motivation and confidence within school. I felt lucky to be involved because I’d never heard of anything like it before.”
From the moment Megan walked into her first Teens and Toddlers session, she felt a sense of relief. The Programme Leads created a supportive and welcoming environment that made her feel at ease.
“I really enjoyed the first few sessions; it was nice to feel a part of something.”
“The Programme Leads were open, honest and the sessions were structured in a way that helped everyone connect and get involved. In the sessions we had the opportunity to write down our thoughts and feelings. This made me realise a lot about myself which was nice.”
“I formed a nice bond with one of my Programme Leads, Colette. She was so lovely, and she made my group feel so comfortable straight away.”
During the programme, Megan was a mentor to a toddler. As the youngest in her own family, she had little experience working with younger children but she embraced the opportunity and was excited to take on the role.
“I’d never had the chance to feel like I was helping someone who’s younger than me. It gave me a chance to feel needed and it was great. I had some nice experiences with my mentee. He’d say to me, ‘You’re my friend,’ and it melted my heart.”
“By the end of the programme, my mentee was happier knowing he could come to me whenever he needed. Every time I walked into the sessions, his little fact lit up. We built a good relationship and meeting one another was rewarding for us both.”
Teens and Toddlers improved Megan’s confidence and learning at school and inspired her to pursue a career working with children.
“The programme helped me with my confidence, made me grow as a person and helped me to come out of my shell more. It made me want to be a better person for my mentee.”
“At the time I was getting close to Year 11, and the programme gave me a reality check and made me think more about my learning. I started to knuckle down with school more. My attendance at school also improved because I didn’t want to miss a session and then miss seeing the children.”
“The programme was perfect for me because I loved working with the children and knew it was what I wanted to do in the future. I now work in a nursery as a Baby Room Leader.”
“Teens and Toddlers shaped me into who I am today. Even though I was young when I did the programme, it had a huge impact on my life. I’m so grateful.”
